Merit evidence: Peer mediation

CAN DO
At lunch time today, when I sat down with Dylan for lunch, we started talking and then we remembered that we had our Peer Mediation duty with Ryan in our group. Our duty starts at 01:15.
We played for awhile then it was time to go get our Peer mediation gear, I went off to room 25 or 24.(I still cant tell which is which!:P) Once I got my Peer mediation jacket I went into the Tech Hub to search for an Ipad but I couldn't find one, then Dylan and Ryan came in, so I asked them where one was then Dylan found one. So we headed back out to the field to (hopefully) sort out some problems. We started by walking slowly around the field we circled around the field once, so we decided to go around again then we (FINALLY) bumped into a problem. But when we got there it was just some little girls getting angry at some boys for jumping on their leaf pile!! I really didn't want to attend this problem but it was my job, so we tried to have a mediation but the boys ran away from us and the girls started throwing leaves at each other. Then they started throwing the leaves at US when the bell went!! So I took some photos of them for some evidence.
After we got the girls to stop and go back to class, Dylan, Ryan and I went back to send our gear back, when we put our gear back I saw Miss O'Conner walking past so I showed her the photos I took of the little girls because she's the leader of the Peer mediation, when she saw the photos she said she would sort it out.
Well today's duty was very weird. I hope that our group doesn't experience that again. Here is some apology letters from the girls we received a day later!

Reading
WALT: explore the authors purpose
This my weeks reading, we read "watch for edge slumps." On the top left on the left page is the prediction sheet which you fill in before you read the story assigned to your group. Next to that is
the vocabulary sheet, to fill it in you write a word that you don't know of or a technical word, then you use the word in a sentence. Underneath those sheets are my teacher activity, I have to make up a storie of a chosen New Zealand road sign. On the top of the right page is the 'Must dos'. This weeks Must dos are to read the Dogo news article and a word comprehension sheet. Underneath that is a follow up activatie for the storie we read.
My next step is to get more detail for the must do article.

Can do.
Today I remembered that I had my PALS duty. I asked Cameron and Dylan if they could help me, because my team members wouldn't want to do it. My friends and I grabbed ourselves each a vest, a whistle. I also grabbed a pile of cones and then we headed out to the field.
When we got out onto the field I started to ask my friends if we should play the game we played at fitness(which I called high five tag). Everybody said yes and so I set up an area with the cones. Once I finished setting the area I asked some kids if they wanted to play. But they were already playing their own game and didn't want to join in. I asked Mr Ladbrook who was on duty if he could ask some kids to play with us . After one minute we had about 5 girls who stared to play, we played Octopus as they asked ,after that we got 3 more boys to join, supposedly Mr Ladbook invited(He also later gave me a CARE tick for thinking up that idea), that's when I started to change the game a bit. When the game got better, more people came.
I looked at the time and there was only five more minutes to the bell so I asked everyone to play tricky tag, I also got involved. when the bell rang I thanked everyone for coming and quickly gave out posies, and then my friends and I packed up.

Merit Evidence: kapa Haka
Thursday 23 April 2015
Can do.
Can do.
Today my class, room 26 all decided if we still wanted to do Kapa Haka(dance), and I decided to still do Kapa Haka(dance) but I stayed in the participation group, which means you are still learning the actions or songs, and is not preforming, their just learning.
When me and my friends walked over to the hall where we do Kapa Haka, well now its basically an Whare. When we got inside we sat down, after about 2 minutes Matua(teacher) Rihari lead us in two song or other-wise in maori, waiata. After that Mr Brown took the boys into the hall foyer to teach us the HAKA! When everyone got inside the hall foyer Mr Brown started to teach us the words, the words were really hard and I got muddled up sometimes but when we learnt the actions to go along with the words I start to get better. But then I got muddled up on the ACTIONS!!
When the bell went off to signal that morning tea has began Mr Brown let us go to morning tea. when I got my morning tea I started to practice the actions of the Haka but then all of sudden I forgot the words. Oh well maybe next week. :}

Must do(Kauri Team Events).
Must do(Kauri Team Events).
Today the whole entire Kauri team got together in the hall at 9:30 to get ready to go to Jelly Park for a fun day, after, Mr Foreman sent us in class's to the buses. Our class(26) got on the first bus but we got there last because the bus driver didn't know where to go so we kept on going in circles but I didn't complain. Eventually we got to Jelly park around 10:30.
When the races started the year 7's (which is me) and 8's got changed, after I got changed I realised 2 things. 1. That there was hardly any space to sit and 2. That I'd had to wait for a loooooong time. Soon after it was my race for freestyle,I came JUST 2nd, I also got a stick for kawhai house,so I placed it in the bucket and then sat back down, a few moments later it was my race for backstroke, in that race I came 1st!!! I was super proud of my self and again I got a stick for kawhai. After that we all went outside for lunch for about 30 minutes. Eventually is was time for the relay races and I was in one of the teams, our team can 2nd I think, then we had the house challenge games and my house won.
Then we all got changed into our normal clothes and hopped back on the bus and most of the way was very quiet. Today was really fun and awesome. I can't wait till next year.

Can do(PALS)
Can do(PALS)
Today after eating lunch I remembered I needed to do my PALS job but I also wanted to play soccer with my friends but I had to do my job so I wouldn't let down my group. So I got my whistle and my jacket and went to the courts to meet the other people in my group, the job was very hard because we only got about 5 children to start off with and when we asked some kids if they wanted to play they didn't won't to so we just started with a game of 'Candlestick Tag' then more and more people came in to join so we changed the game to 'What's The Time Mr Wolf'. After two rounds of that we had a quick reflection about what the children enjoyed. We also gave out posies to the people we thought were participating really well.
